Vice President / Director, Strategic Communication

About The Role 

The Vice President or Director, Strategic Communication, will contribute to supporting and growing Loyalist’s communication practice across a variety of sectors, working on complex communication and public policy challenges in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The ideal applicant will be a solutions-oriented, client-facing individual with strong writing and communication skills. Ideally, the candidate will be well-organized and conscientious, able to work independently and as part of a team to meet stated timelines, and have a proactive mindset that anticipates project challenges.

This role will allow the individual to gain significant experience managing public communication efforts for a variety of organizations. The candidate will work closely with the firm’s leadership to develop strategic approaches for clients on external and internal communication challenges, brand announcements, crisis communication and issues management.

The ideal candidate will be a passionate and creative writer with a mind for strategic communication and problem-solving. The successful candidate will be a positive, results-oriented individual with a track record of successful project management and an ability to exercise solid judgement.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Developing strategic communication plans and initiatives.
  • Supporting clients and client-leads across several sectors and mandates.
  • Writing and editing communication materials, including news releases, social media content, web and intranet copy, reports and publications, Q&As, scripts, presentations, advertising copy, marketing materials and speeches.
  • Providing media and presentation training sessions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in public relations/communication and/or related fields, preferably within a consulting agency.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Highly developed communication planning skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of strategic communication plans.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a commitment to teamwork.
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills, along with solid attention to detail.
